Journey

What is a Journey?

Journeys are small gatherings who meet regularly for friendship, accountability, study, prayer, laughter and even tears. In the past, we have called these groups “House Churches,” but have renamed them to Journey to reflect an essential part of the church’s vision – that the whole church is on a journey with one another.

Each Journey is unique, reflecting the personalities of various neighborhoods and of the people who attend. However, what you can expect is a regular gathering in someone’s home that involves food, conversation, prayer and a discussion on how to apply the sermon. At the heart of each Journey meeting is the desire to see an authentic community marked by love for Jesus, for one another and for their neighborhood.

Why should I join a Journey?

The name Journey captures a sense of mission, community – that is, what these groups are all about. Every journey in life has a destination. These are not static but fluid groups with a purpose and a unique calling – a mission to serve and a mission to grow. In every great journey, all of us need people around us who will cheer us on and encourage our labor for Christ. God has not intended for us to live life alone. Journey is a place where we can live in relationship with one another through life’s victories and failures.

How do I get connected to a Journey?

The first step to getting connected is to look at the list of Journeys below. They meet on different days of the week and at different times. Find one that fits your schedule and just show up.  If you like it, great! If not, no fear. Pick another and give it a shot until you find one where you and your family will feel comfortable. Now is a great time for you to begin to participate in the community of Glasgow Church and we are glad to welcome you.
