Special Announcements

2/7 Worship Service Cancelled

After consulting with all concerned, I have decided that it would simply be too dangerous to hold the worship service tomorrow. Even if we clear the lot, travel to and from the church would be risky and dangerous. Therefore, the church service for tomorrow is canceled.

However, Sharon and I MAY be able to hold another live online Q and A as we did the last time we had to cancel the worship service. So tune in at 10:30 tomorrow at www.glasgowchurch.com to see if we are live online. That will depend on whether or not we can get the right personnel there. Keep in mind that whenever we have to cancel a worship service we still need you to give your tithes and offerings, especially since it has cost us thousands and thousands of dollars this year to have the lot plowed and salted. Our expenses continue whether or not we conduct a worship service for that week. Stay warm and safe. Hold a mini-worship service in your home tomorrow and pray for your leadership even as we are praying for you.

Christmas Concert & Christmas Eve

Thanks to the snow, there is more time to invite friends and family to two awesome music events:  our Christmas Concert on Wednesday 12/23 at 7:00pm, and the Christmas Eve service at 6:00 pm.  Put the last minute shopping on hold and take some time to rock out and sing out to God with Glasgow’s worship team.  The songs over both services have been carefully selected to reflect our “Ancient-Future” model of worship.  Below are updated flyers you can print out and use to invite friends and family.

Special Announcement from Dr. Betters

Dear Member or Friend of GRPC:

For weeks now I have tried to keep you in the loop concerning the exciting new direction of the church. As I have been telling you, we are assessing every ministry in the church as to effectiveness and conformity with the direction we are taking. As a church, we are looking to strategically align all of the ministries and activities of the church with our stated vision of “Training and Deploying Risk-Taking Disciples into Their Mission Fields.” To do so, we need to simplify our life as a church. Simplifying can be very exciting, but it also involves change. When change is introduced into a family (and we are a family) there is a possibility some will not like the changes well. We understand that. However, the changes you will hear about in the next couple of weeks have been vetted for well over two years. The time has come to “pull the trigger.” Last Sunday, I told you of the Session’s decision to return to one worship service. This was done for a reason. That reason will become clearer this Sunday during my sermon and expounded upon the following Sunday.

On behalf of a unanimous Session, some changes regarding Sunday school and our house church ministry have been instituted. We have been developing a comprehensive plan to simplify and streamline our overall Christian education ministries. This includes simplifying what we do best – our worship experience on Sunday mornings. Now that we have decided to return to one worship service, we turn our attention to Sunday school. Effective immediately, we will be redirecting our Sunday school resources, (teachers, materials, etc.) to our Kids Church (held during the worship hour), our Wednesday night program, and/or our house churches. Throughout the year we will develop the ‘Big Idea.” This means that everything we do in our church will be centered on whatever the “Big Idea” is for that period. Every program in the church will be coordinated with the pulpit message so that as a church we are all studying the same things that are preached. More on the “Big Idea” will be forthcoming.

For now, we are sure you have questions as to why we will no longer hold Sunday school classes. Here are some of them.

Fireproof – A Couples Movie Night

At work, inside burning buildings, Capt. Caleb Holt lives by the old firefighter’s adage: Never leave your partner behind. At home, in the cooling embers of his marriage, he lives by his own rules. His job is to rescue others. Now Caleb must face his toughest job ever…rescuing his wife’s heart.

Glasgow Church invites you to a special couples-only movie event on March 6th.  The movie will begin at 7:00pm in the Loft at the church. We are not currently planning childcare for the event. If you cannot provide your own, please contact the church office.

Seating is limited, so register now to ensure your seat.
