First Touch
FIRST TOUCH NEEDS Ushers/greeters, Parking lot attendants, Set up/tear down crew workers
With the return to one service and other changes we are making on Sunday morning there is a big need for additional ushers, door greeters, parking lot attendants, and set up/tear down crews for the “North Sanctuary” (FLC). These are very important aspects of our Sunday morning worship. Statistics show that 85% of first time visitors determine within the first 10 minutes of visiting a new church whether they will return for a second visit. This means that the “First Touch” they receive will have a lasting impact. In our church, the parking lot attendants, the door greeters and the ushers are the First Touch. The set up and tear down of the FLC is an important behind the scenes task. These crews are responsible for the vital preparations needed to seat the many people who come each week to the “North Sanctuary.” And then, after the worship service, they set up everything in preparation for GCA and other weekly activities in the FLC.
We need to recruit 3-4 teams in each area of ministry so that our First Touch workers will only serve every 3-4 weeks. We are looking for people who are not already regularly serving in some capacity on Sunday morning. First Touch ministries are not just for men, we are also recruiting women to serve as door greeters and/or ushers…and, if any of you ladies want to serve in the parking lot you are welcome there as well.
If you are not regularly involved on Sunday mornings, or any other time, then please give consideration to stepping into one of our “First Touch” ministries. It is a great way to meet other people and get plugged-in if you are relatively new to Glasgow Church. It is a great way to encourage those who are visiting and make them feel welcomed and wanting to return.
Also, please remember that throughout our church calendar year there are times beyond Sunday morning when we need ushers, parking lot attendants, and set up/tear down in the FLC. These are important ministries beyond Sunday morning as well.
If you are interested in any of these four ministry areas or need more information, please e-mail or call Bruce Marker at the church office or email him at bmarker@glasgowchurch.com.
